This past Saturday after noon Colegio Juan Wesley celebrated their elementary graduation. Karla the director indicates that 87 student had promotions. 30 students graduated from kindergarten to first grade; 30 students graduated from the 6th grade and 27 students will soon graduate from "Tercer Basico” (roughly equivalent to our 9th grade). Many of these 9th graders started as kindergartners 10 years ago and represent the first students to have attended all the grades. Approximately 200 family, friends and teachers attended this celebration.
The event was opened with the grand entrance of the Guatemalan, US and Christian flags. An evangelistic commencement address was delivered by Loren Anderson. The proceedings were broadcast on a new local, cable channel.
Note: The 9th grade is "tercer basico" this is as far as students can currently go at Colegio Juan Wesley. In the new facility the hope is to add the final three years of secondary education offered in the Guatemalan school system. More pictures
